Truestar Health selects VCON and STARBAK to Deliver Online Resource

Truestar Health creates a patented, integrated package for online health site using VCON's HD100 and MXM and STARBAK's VCG System

(March 1, 2004) Austin, Texas and Waltham, MA – VCON (Nouveau Marché ISIN Code:
IL 00 108 30540), a worldwide leader in audio and videoconferencing solutions, and STARBAK Communications, Inc.®, a leader in integrated, end-to-end solutions that enable users to create, manage, and deliver rich media content, today announced that Truestar Health has chosen a combined solution to support live videoconferencing with webcasting and on-demand replay. Truestar Health™ Inc. has chosen the VCON HD100 and VCON The Media Xchange Manager® (MXM) as the videoconferencing platform on which to deliver online, rich media content to their customers. In addition, Truestar Health will be using the STARBAK VCG for live webcasting, recording and on-demand streaming.

With their motto of “we’re helping you change your life one day at a time,” Truestar Health is the first online health resource to focus on complete health for all age groups. Truestar Health’s innovative and personalized programs also include attitude, nutrition, sleep, vitamins, exercise and sport-specific training. The VCON HD100 and MXM are used to deliver live and recorded presentations of gym and aerobics classes, as well as demonstrations of preparing healthy yet delicious meals.

“Every aspect of this system is revolutionary. Truestar Health’s patented Web-based technology for delivering TV-quality rich media content engages and delights our members,” said Anthony Whalen, Vice President of Information Technology and co-founder of Truestar Health. “We have developed this capability with VCON and STARBAK to further enhance our members’ overall online experience. It’s great having these industry leading companies as our partners.”

The VCON HD100 is a videoconferencing engine used for integration into custom rooms or environments, like those at Truestar Health. The HD100 produces high quality video with extremely low latency and IP conferencing data rates from 64Kbps to 2Mbps. Its embedded MCU allows integrators, like Truestar Health, to use their custom application to conference with multiple sites without having to purchase and integrate a separate MCU.

The VCON MXM gives integrators flexibility when creating their custom application as well as complete control of how the application is used and run on their network. The MXM provides access to individual and group bandwidth limits, reporting and billing functions, standby failover technology for high availability, and the ability to control systems remotely.

STARBAK’s Create VCG videoconferencing gateway is used to stream and record any H.323 videoconferencing session. This allows Truestar Health to use VCON’s endpoint equipment as a high-end content capture device, which is recorded by the VCG for repeated on-demand access by the target audience on a 24/7 global basis.

“Truestar Health’s use of the HD100 and MXM with the STARBAK VCG is a prime example of how integrators can take VCON’s advanced technology and create something unique and extraordinary for their customers,” said Gordon Daugherty, Chief Marketing Officer, VCON. “We are excited to have been a part of this project and look forward to Truestar’s continued success.”
